Fresh Start Effect
Utilizing some info from my devotion this morning (have you tried Our Daily Bread--if not check it out here-https://odb.org/) as it really spoke to me and my prayers of yesterday and the first of a brand new year.
How many times has someone asked you what your new year's resolutions are? Most people answer things like losing weight, being kinder, helping others, reading their Bible more, etc. For myself, I've never been one to make, much less keep new year's resolutions. And, although this is NOT a resolution as it is something I've been working on in my own life for a while, I'll share with you basically what came to me through the ODB devotion from this morning.
First you might want to read Col. 3:1-10. If you go to the online link above you can also read the scripture, the insight by Tim Gustafson, the editor for the Discovery series there. Plus you can read the great sharing of Sheridan Voysey about the Fresh Start Effect.
This was so good for me as I have been contemplating a while now on how many times I pass by opportunties to share the love of God, and salvation through Christ Jesus. The devotion spoke about continuing in a job someone hated. We were just talking about that over the New Year's dinner table with our friends the Gaylor's and Scott Allen, people we have just begun to know. How can we stay doing things we really don't like for a profession, when we could be shining elsewhere for God.
So, if you have a new year's resolution, think on this. "If you've ever vowed to change at the start of a new month, new year, or a major birthday, you're not alone," said Voysey. "Wanting to be better people, we long for a fresh start."
ARE YOU READY FOR A FRESH START?
