Prepared to give an answer

It seems today that everyone is "prepared to give an answer" whether it is right or wrong or in direct contrast to some statement they made just the previous day.

Today I was reading I Peter 3:13-18. (vs 14) "But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. Do not fear their threats (lies-my definition); do not be frightened.

In our current world today, there is an environment of lies, half-truths and "some" truth. It is hard to know what to believe. But as Christians, who are called to "share the gospel with all who will listen" we must be certain we always rely on the Word of God.

My devotion today told the story of a man whose co-workers knew little about Christianity. But they knew this man cared--by his previous interactions with them. When they had a question about "God stuff," they knew where to go--directly to their co-worker who cared about them, and had proved it with his actions.

In this world of lies, we need to remember that the father of lies--Satan--will use any opportunity to lead us astray and cause us to walk away, rather than toward, the saving love and mercy of God.

I, for one, will follow the Word of God. I will be diligent to seek out His Word to guide me--turning aside the words of men that may or may not be true. I will compare everything said to me against the word of God, as it is the ONLY standard that is true and good and just. PLEASE do not blindly follow what you hear. Compare it to truth--not lies of the world.

Christians--stand strong and be prepared to give an answer when someone has a question about that "God stuff." Share your faith with gentleness and respect and TRUTH.
