Interloper

We (as believers and Christ-followers) have been challenged from many in leadership to speak out. To be the change we want to see. I have felt convicted to share what I read in the scriptures, what I know from studying history and what I have been taught by learned leaders. And so, with that in mind, I will try to do my small part to make this world a better place, and to share the love of Christ to all.

We shake our heads and wonder what is happening to our world, but as those who have read and tried to "mine" the scriptures, as I have been challenged in my adult Sunday class, I KNOW what the outcome will be. And I KNOW what we are called to do.

People are trying to deny the history of  not only our country but the world. Tearing down a statue does not tear away the history. It is still there. Good and bad--it is what made us who we are. I believe in the right to PEACEFUL PROTEST, as it stated in the Constitution of our country. (see below the First Amendment to the Constitution--how many of you have actually read the Constitution lately--or at all?)

Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.(highlight is mine).

There are those who want to peaceably assemble, and they have that right--and obligation, because that is how things change. WE need to make our voices heard and sometimes "protesting" an injustice, is the only way that happens. I DO NOT believe I am representative of "white privilege" just because that is the color of my skin (color will be a topic for a later blog). I struggle just like many others. We are who we make ourselves to be--how hard we work and the opportunities we seize.

And so, I support those who want to PEACEABLY ASSEMBLE. What I don't support are "peace officers-law enforcement" who take the law into their own hands and do things they have NEVER been called to do. What I don't support are INTERLOPERS who seize opportunities of "peaceable assembly" to bring themselves wealth and sometimes fame, by riding on the coattails of those who peaceably assemble.

In a recent news article I read this (credit to Dailywire.com) "As with many of the anti-racism protests that took place last week, the demonstration in Las Vegas quickly turned from peaceful to violent after officers gave the order for protesters to disperse. In many major cities, interlopers, determined to cause unrest, moved in as protesters moved out, leading to days of violence in places like Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Chicago, Illinois."
(highlight mine).

In the past couple weeks, according to the New York Post, approximately 700 federal, state and local law enforcement officers have sustained injuries, around 60 Secret Service agents and 40 members of Washington, D.C.'s Park Police were injured with 22 having to be hospitalized. According to Fox News, 292 members of the NYCPD were injured and 130 injured between 5 p.m. May 29 and midnight May 31.

And 29-year-old Las Vegas Police Officer Shay Mikalonis, will probably never walk again, due to being shot in the head by an INTERLOPER. Doing his duty, trying to "keep the peace." Now his life is changed forever.

What is an INTERLOPER you might ask. On the heels of the peaceable assembly come the interlopers. It is defined by Oxford dictionary as, "a person who becomes involved in a place or situation where they are not wanted or are considered not to belong."

For those who believe that those who are peaceably assembling are making a difference, they need to understand what comes after, in the form of interlopers, is undoing all the good they could possibly do by their marches and protests. I pray for all who are involved. I pray that God will be in control and change our world. But I also understand from reading the scriptures that things may get worse before they get better.

In 2 Timothy 3:1- 5 we read, "This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such TURN AWAY.

Turn away--run as fast and as far in the other direction as possible.

Seek peace and peace-lovers. Submit to God, accept Him as Savior and Lord. That is the only real solution to our current situation.
